Push Ups & Pull Ups

Two weeks ago today, Nicholas figured out that he could move from a sitting position to a crawling position, and there has been no holding him back since. He has learned to roll across the floor, army crawl, sit himself up from lying down and then today he was proudly standing in his crib. I would have been concerned about his lack of development, but Patrick was the exact same way. Patrick crawled at 11 months and walked at 12. Nicholas has a far more curious and I must say mischievousness about him, though, in comparison to Patrick. Nicholas has a mirror hanging above his changing table within reach. This was not a problem with Patrick, but Nicholas has been trying to pull at that mirror for months now. He knows what I mean when I say "no" and I take his hand away and then he puts his foot on it when I go about changing his diaper. Next comes the one eyebrow raise and the grin. It is so hard not to laugh at his antics. He really is so joyful and just likes to have fun. His favorite things to do as of late are turning everything on in his crib, splashing in the bath, screaming for attention (not our favorite), pulling any hair he can get his hands on, sucking on his toes and playing "Where's Nicholas?".

Patrick is still enjoying kindergarten. I can't believe we are in the last 9 weeks! I have really enjoyed my time volunteering during literacy on Thursdays in his classroom. It is fun getting to help him and see him interact with the others. He is very proud of the fact that he has never had to sign the sad book. I have really been blessed with being able to stay home this past year. I do still wonder if we made the right choice letting him go to school this year instead of next since he has a summer birthday. He has proven to be emotionally and mentally ready, however, he has been complaining that everyone else in his class in already 6 and everyone else has already lost a tooth. I remember feeling like that, too, as I was an August birthday. In the whole scheme of things, what really matters is that he is well adjusted, learning to READ and he is happy. We are so proud of both of our boys.
