Boy Scout Camp and Father's Day

Patrick went to Boy Scout camp a few weeks ago. It was a day camp from 7:30am until 1:30pm. It has been the hottest recorded temperatures for the month of June. I chapereoned with another mom one of the days and let me just say...I nearly died! The boys were even dragging it was so hot. Hiking around the woods when it is 103! Playing volleyball at high noon in the sun! Ugh! I stayed positive for the kids, but for this blog I will say it was NOT fun and I nearly died. Toward the end of my day there, I started getting chills. Chills! Despite all of the water and gatorade I had consumed, I was sick. We came home and jumped in the pool with our clothes on. Then I went to bed for 3 hours. The next morning I woke up at 5:30 and my neck siezed up. This happens every once in awhile after too much heavy lifting (i.e cases of water, coolers and a wagon in and out of my car). I couldn't move my head for days despite ice/heat, pain killers and muscle relaxers. It took a good week before it was back to normal. Patrick had a great time though, however, he didn't want to go the last day for Family Day because of the heat which was ok by me as I couldn't move my head anyways.

Fathers Day was great. I made a mixture of Morrocn, Indian and Asian food for Chuck...Morrocon Lemon Chicken with Green Olives, Spicy Curry Cauliflower Stew and Rice Noodle/Shrimp Salad. For dessert we had a Dark Chocolate and Raspberry Pie. Patrick made him a wallet during the Leathermaking portion of Boy Scout camp.

Nicholas loves these crab claw shaped crackers we have, so here is Chuck feeding him raspberries with them....

Patrick is at church camp this week with his cousins and my parents are chaperoning. Nicholas starts t-ball tonight at 6:30. What kind of fool am I to put him in t-ball in July?

Some funny thing Nicholas has said as of late...
"Mommy, it's morning! I wake up. The sun's wake up!"
"Bentley (our dog), STOP looking at me!"
"When we go to the beach with Baby MaCrae, I will hold his hand and we will go for a walk"
Nicholas telling a 13 yr old neighbor girl..."I drink chocolate milk, but I'm not a baby..I'm a big boy. My shirt has dolphins on it. I glued it on. I painted all of the pretty colors on it."
Me telling Nicholas.."You have to wear underwear to t-ball...there aren't any pull-ups in t-ball"
Nicholas to me " That's ok, I'll just wear diapers"

Nicholas Turns 3!

We had a great time for Nicholas' 3rd birthday on Tuesday, June 9th (his actual b-day). Chuck was on vacation that week so we went to WF to see Mel and Jack and had a family party up there. My parents, Richard, Brandi & the kids, Chuck's grandmother and Chuck's Aunt June and Uncle Donnie all came in for the celebrations. I always make my kids a b-day cake on their actual birthday and this year the request was Rocket from Little Einsteins. This was my trial run cake before his birthday party at our house the next week. I made the first one with my usual butter cream frosting and has a really hard time keeping it from melting and making the colors deep enough. Rocket came our kind of pink, but Nicholas didn't care. Mel also had a cake for him so he got to have two birthday cakes! Mel also cooked a lot of really yummy food. We all had a good time. Nicholas was really cute opening up his cards. He seemed to be more excited about the cards than the presents at times.

Here is Birthday Party #2 at our house. Chuck cooked burgers. This cake I just used a powder sugar and milk icing and it was like trying to ice with thick glue. I tried to upgrade my cake a bit by putting Rocket on grass and I remembered his antennae this time and the characters. Rocket was cinnamon and the grass was chocolate with butter cream grass frosting. My boosters fell down but once again Nicholas wasn't concerned. Gotta love that!

Crossover

Patrick had his crossover ceremony a couple of weeks ago from Wolf to Bear in Cub Scouts. We were proud of him for completing all of his accomplishments in such a short time (we joined in December). He is really enjoying Cub Scouts and is looking forward to day camp in a couple of weeks. I will be chaperoning one day, so that should be interesting (and very hot!). Patrick's last day of school was yesterday. We are proud of him receiving all 'A's this year except for 1 "B" (it was an 88) on all of his report cards. It is hard to believe Nicholas will be 3 on Tuesday and Patrick will be 8 in July. They are growing up faster than I can keep up with this blog!
