Long Time, No Blog

I guess I have been busy lately with gardening, sewing and reading on top of the cooking, cleaning and kids. We went to see Chuck's mom a couple of weeks ago for her birthday. I surprised myself by driving 12 hours in 2 days on top of a visit to Altus, OK, for a family get together at Chuck's grandmother's house. We celebrated Mel and Chuck's uncle David's birthday with great food (as always). I think there were 14 of us there. The kids were great travelers. The DVD player and the Nintendo DS are wonderful for long car trips.

There have been some lay offs at Chuck's work and all managers have to take 6 unpaid days by September, so that is not too bad considering what so many other companies are going through. Of course this means more hours for Chuck (which doesn't seem humanly possible), but that's ok. We are thankful he has a job.

Chuck has been off for the last few days so we went to the Space Center and we really enjoyed our time there. We happened to be there on Sunday and were able to stay and watch the launching of the space shuttle on their big screen. It was exciting to be there and see it live.

Nicholas favorite phrase of late is "This is my..." such as when he sees neighborhood kids he will say "this is my friend, Patrick" or he will tell us, "This is my house" or "This is my cat, Baby Kitty". He has been having fun with the planting of our flower and vegetable seeds. He told me that "the plants are growing big just like me". When we pick Patrick up at school he says, "Hi Patrick, did you have a good day?". He loves to sing his nursery songs and is making up knock knock jokes. As my dad said, he really enjoys life.

This was fun to go inside and see the cockpit.

This guy looked so real. We were touring a mock up of the old apollo rocket.
