The Bible

Two weeks ago today, we got to church when Chuck realized that he had put his Bible on top of the car while he put Nicholas in his car seat. I encouraged him to go home and look for it, but he was sure it would be in the driveway. Not true! Not only was the Bible lost, but the two checks for the offering were gone as well. Wednesday of that week, Chuck got a call in the banquet kitchen from Human Resources telling him that Bank of America called and they had his Bible and the checks! On Friday, I went and picked it up at the bank and they said that an older gentleman had brought it in. He had found it while walking along the highway and saw the checks and that the Bible was given to him by his grandparents, so he thought he should return it. He tried to call us at home (as did the bank), but we have our old phone number on our checks and apparently the bank still had our old number in their records, too. The nice gentleman did not leave his name. Don't you love random acts of kindness?
